“AI is one of the most profound things we’re working on,” says Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Yet, as Shoshana Zuboff warns in The Age of Surveillance Capitalism, lack of transparency can erode trust.

Companies can lead by adopting transparent practices, like sharing how AI algorithms work and why they make decisions. Frameworks such as the EU’s AI Act are good starting points.

For individuals, demand transparency. Use platforms that provide clarity on their AI processes and advocate for ethical AI policies. Open communication builds trust—essential for AI’s future.
